Autosport Designs - "An Orphanage for Automobiles"

Autosport Designs Inc. may ring a bell for those of you who follow our facebook page, and that’s
because we’ve been fortunate enough to sign them as our first customer at PremiumExoticCars.com. Just over the border in Suffolk County in Long Island NY, Autosport Designs is a firm that specializes in Sales, Service, and Restoration of vintage and classic cars, although they do much work on modern exotics as well.

With over 20 years in the business of sales and service of high-end exotic and vintage automobiles, Autosport Designs is arguably one of the finest boutiques in the world. Some of the sheet metal that passes through their doors is so obscure we have to ask about certain vehicles when visiting. The vast 30,000 sq ft facility has been described by owner Tom Papadopoulos ,“an automobile orphanage”. Tom started out modestly as a Porsche technician but through unrelenting drive and determination built a truly incredible facility. Porsche happens to be one of the brands Autosport specializes in, along with Ferrari and Aston Martin. Tom has a special adoration for Aston Martin that was fostered when he first visited their UK headquarters in 1976. That planted the seed of determination to eventually work on and sell such priceless vehicles. Now his firm specializes in restoring and selling them, a testament to his work and dedication. Speaking of which, Tom was able to build Autosport while being back-to-back N.A. Ferrari 355 Challenge Champion in '97+ '98! That's what we call Driving Your Passion!

Some noteworthy cars to pass through their doors in summer 2013 were the Von Krieger Mercedes 540K Roadster, the REAL Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds, Aston Martin One-77 #42 (as seen at Pebble Beach), an original Ford GT40 prototype and the only Ferrari 599 Superamerica 45 in existence.

At the 2013 Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance 2013 Autosport won best in class for their entry of the Von Krieger Mercedes 540K Roadster. The former owner, baroness Gisela Von Krieger said, “Love of good cars is said to be men’s purest passion.” We can assure you that the love of good cars runs through the veins of the dedicated and genuinely sincere staff at Autosport Designs. Check out some of their inventory on our website at www.PremiumExoticCars.com and head over to our facebook page to check out photos from our latest visit!

Mazda Furai burns to the ground!

"That's not gone well!" A classic Jeremy Clarkson phrase which could not be more appropriate given the situation that's just unfolded in Dunsfold, England.

An image surfaced on facebook today of a seriously charred Mazda Furai concept as previously seen on a Top Gear episode in 2008. With radical styling and high-tech aerodynamics it was quite possibly the best Mazda concept to date. However, the guys at Top Gear seemed to have a tough time containing all of the Furai (ha get it? Fury –furai) under the bonnet of this Japanese beast. Somehow the car burned right down to its underpinnings! After releasing the image of the catastrophe Top Gear said:

“Forgive us for we have sinned. Top Gear is responsible for the untimely demise of the quite remarkable Mazda Furai Concept, and we’re very, very sorry. Find out how (if that picture hasn’t clued you in…) in our bumper anniversary issue, and try not to hate us too much.”

All we want to know is what on Earth were they possibly doing? And how did Top Gear and Mazda keep it a secret for nearly 5 years!?

10 Most Beautiful Supercars

Jeremy Clarkson once said that you don't buy supercars with your head, you buy them with your heart. Perhaps that's why we're more enchanted by a Ferrari than a Ford Focus. The sharp curves and the gently sweeping lines of supercars have always captured our imagination. They speak to the little 8 year-old child that lives within all of us, one that's unaware of everything else that's going on in the world. One that only cares that they're driving their passion on the open road. With that being said, here is our list of the 10 most beautiful supercars of all-time in no particular order:

                                                                 Aston Martin DBS
James Bond had one. Enough said.

                                                                   Alfa Romeo 8C
A car is simply more than art can ever be.

                                                          Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic
Seductive curves that we can only dream about on modern cars.

                                                           Eagle E-Type Speedster
Quite possibly the best looking car ever made.

                                                                  Ferrari 458 Spider
Top up or down this car is a looker.

                                                                    Pagani Huayra
Take a moment to fully absorb it.

                                                                        Ford GT
Modern muscle that pays homage to its racing inception.

                                                          Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
It may be 5 years old, but it still looks factory fresh.

                                                                   Spyker C8 Aileron
Unlike anything we've ever seen.

                                                                     Pagani Zonda
If this doesn't excite you then nothing will.

Redline Restorations- A World Class Automotive Restoration Facility

In the middle of a typically busy main road filled with countless delis, restaurants, pizzerias and dry cleaners lays something truly magnificent, a real diamond in the rough. This diamond is an automotive restoration shop run by true artisans whose talent would make even Enzo Ferrari himself envious over their level of craftsmanship. The name of this diamond is Redline Restorations and they’re located at 2316 Fairfield Ave. in Black Rock, CT.

Highly skilled and trained in restorations, Redline Restorations can bring any vehicle from a rusted out barn find to a Concours winning gem.
The passion the team has for cars is self-evident. They share this passion by having open houses every few weeks, giving full access to their automotive clinic.  Luckily we were able to attend one of these open houses on Sunday August 25, 2013. Upon walking to the entrance a gentleman named PJ warmly greeted us, making us feel like we were in our own garage. He encouraged us to explore the shop and share our visit with friends (or fans!).
Once we walked in we saw that this facility is serious about their work and takes great pride in what they do. This dedication was exemplified by the unique cars that lined the showroom, which included a Ferrari 365 Convertible, vintage Bugatti racing cars, vintage Maserati racing cars and an AC Cobra! As if that wasn't glorious enough, we ventured into their fabrication and paint rooms which were also full of treats.

One car in particular stood out, and all we can say is that it is an extremely sought-after Ferrari. This room was marvelous, however we could not take pictures out of respect for the vehicle owners and the team at Redline Restorations. But we encourage you to attend their next open house on Sunday, September 29 to see that eye candy for yourself! Enjoy more pictures at our facebook page and follow us on Instagram!
